Hexagon passing with two balls and wall pass
Six players on the corners of a 20-yard hexagon circulate two balls at once, receiving on the back foot and turning. At the top and bottom corners an extra player adds a wall pass.
Step 1Dos balones en marcha
1 / 3
El 1 y el 4 inician a la vez desde vértices opuestos; el 6 y el 3 reciben con el pie más alejado y giran.
Objective
Receive on the back foot, turn and pass quickly with pace while tracking two balls moving at the same time; add a first-time wall pass at the outer corners.
Organisation
Regular hexagon of about 18-20 m across marked with six cones. One player at each corner and two balls at opposite corners. One extra player next to the top corner and another next to the bottom corner act as walls. Spare balls beside the starting cones.
Development
- 1Both balls start at the same time from opposite corners and travel in the same direction: each player receives on the back foot, turns with the first touch and passes with the second to the next corner.
- 2When the ball reaches the corner next to a wall (top or bottom), that player plays to the outside support, who returns first time to the next hexagon corner, whose player has already dropped to receive.
- 3The ball continues down the other side back to the start; the two balls chase each other without crossing.
- 4Two-minute rounds; between rounds players rotate one corner and the walls swap with two hexagon players.
- 5After two rounds change the direction of circulation to turn and pass with the other foot.
Coaching points4
- Control with the foot furthest from the pass and turn in one touch so you never face away from play.
- Firm, low pass: the next player must be able to turn without adjusting the ball.
- Active feet and open body before the ball arrives; know where the second ball is.
- The wall returns first time into the third player's movement, not back to the passer.
Common mistakes3
- Controlling with the near foot and needing a third touch to turn.
- Standing still on the cone after passing instead of offering again.
- Losing track of the second ball and receiving two passes almost at once at the same corner.
Variations3
- All players follow their pass and the turn happens only at the side corners.
- Change the required turn: outside, inside or a backward oriented touch.
- Switch the direction of ball and player rotation every minute.
Progressions2
- One touch at every corner while keeping both balls.
- Add a third ball with groups of 9 or more.
Regressions2
- One ball only until the tempo and turning technique are clean.
- Smaller hexagon (12-14 m) and free touches.
Tips
- Keep spare balls at the starting corners to restart without waiting.
- Short two-minute rounds with corner rotation keep concentration high.
