Three-height handling with two servers and rolled distribution
20x15 m area with two servers at the top and two 4 m goals at the bottom: each keeper takes three serves (low, midriff and overhead) and then tries to beat the keeper in the opposite goal by rolling the ball along the floor.
Cada servidor lanza raso, al pecho y por encima de la cabeza; el portero bloca y devuelve.
Objective
Warm up handling at the three heights with movement between serves and finish with an accurate rolled distribution, in a competitive format that keeps everyone switched on.
Organisation
20x15 m rectangle. Two servers with balls on the top end and two rows of cones between them forming a channel. Two working keepers in the middle, one facing each server, and two 4 m goals (mini goals or cones) on the bottom end with a static keeper in each.
Development
- 1The server plays a low ball to the working keeper, who scoops it and returns it.
- 2Second serve at midriff height: basket catch with the elbows tucked in and return.
- 3Third serve high, above the head: W catch at the highest point and return; the keeper moves each time to get in line with the ball.
- 4After the third catch the keeper turns and rolls the ball by hand, trying to beat the keeper in the 4 m goal in front of them; that keeper defends the goal.
- 5The two working keepers swap sides by running through the cone channel and repeat facing the other server.
- 6Every 3-4 rounds rotate servers, goal keepers and working keepers. The keeper with most rolled goals wins.
Coaching points4
- Get behind the line of the ball before every catch: feet first, hands second.
- Scoop for the low ball, basket with elbows together for the midriff, W above the head.
- Attack the high ball at its highest point rather than waiting for it.
- The rolled distribution leaves with a straight arm and the ball hugging the ground, aimed at the corner.
Common mistakes3
- Catching the midriff ball with open elbows and letting it rebound.
- Receiving the high ball with bent arms and no jump.
- Rolling a bouncing ball or rolling without looking at the goal.
Variations3
- Server picks the order of the heights without warning.
- Serve with the feet instead of by hand.
- Distribute with a mid-height javelin throw instead of a roll.
Progressions2
- The keeper in the bottom goal may step out to pressure the roll, forcing a quick decision.
- Add a fourth serve, mid-height to the side, that requires a collapse dive.
Regressions2
- Two serves only (low and midriff) for beginners.
- Rolled distribution with no keeper in the bottom goal.
Tips
- Two balls per server so the warm-up never stops.
- Count goals and clean catches to keep the competition alive.
