4-station shooting circuit (Liverpool FC)
Four stations around the box linked at match tempo: skill move at the mannequin and shot, one-two around the mannequin and shot, dribble to the byline with a pull-back, and pass-overlap-cross attacked by three players.
A regatea el maniquí y tira; B juega la pared con A alrededor del maniquí y remata.
Objective
Finish from four different sources (shot after a skill, shot after a one-two, finishing a pull-back and finishing a cross after an overlap) with speed of play and a variety of strikes to work the keeper.
Organisation
Goal with a keeper and a quarter pitch. Station A: central mannequin 22-25 m out with a queue of players and balls. Station B: mannequin on the left of the edge of the box with a player and balls. Station C: player with balls on the right wing level with the box. Station D: player with balls on the left wing, further back, with a support partner. Goal size and distances according to age.
Development
- 1Station A: player A dribbles at the mannequin, performs a skill move (cut, step-over, drag) and shoots.
- 2Station B: as A shoots, player B plays a one-two with A around the left mannequin and B shoots the return first time.
- 3Station C: after B's shot, player C dribbles down the right wing to the byline and plays a low pull-back; A or B, who have followed into the box, finish first time.
- 4Station D: the three reorganise towards the edge of the box while D passes to his support partner, overlaps on the outside, receives the return on the run and crosses.
- 5A, B and C attack the six-yard box split between near post, penalty spot and far post and finish the cross.
- 6Every player returns to his starting station and the next group starts immediately.
- 7Switch the stations to the other side every 6-8 minutes to shoot and cross from the other profile.
Coaching points4
- Speed of play: each station starts with the previous shot, without waiting for the ball to leave the box.
- Vary the type of strike to work the keeper: low to the post, placed, laces, first time.
- On crosses, attack different areas: near post, penalty spot and far post, with staggered runs.
- Technical quality in the skill, the pass and the return of the one-two: without it the circuit breaks down.
Common mistakes3
- A and B watch their shot and do not arrive for C's pull-back.
- A slow one-two from B that leaves the keeper set.
- All three finishers attack the same post on D's cross.
Variations3
- Relocate the stations to shoot and cross from different angles in each set.
- Station D with a first-time cross, no overlap.
- Competition between groups: points for every station where a goal is scored.
Progressions2
- Blue defenders: 1v1 at station A, 2v2 at B and 3v2 on the crosses.
- Keeper free to come for the pull-back and the cross: the finishers must read him.
Regressions2
- No mannequins or one-two: shot after a dribble, pull-back and a simple cross.
- Reduce to three stations (A, C and D) for younger groups.
Tips
- Ten balls at each station before starting; the circuit only works without pauses.
- Two groups of four alternating gives active rest while balls are collected.
